Blue shoes are great for any season.   I especially like these cobalt blue ‘Card’ t-strap sandals from Corso Como.  With a 2-inch stacked wooden heel and perforated gel cushion footbed, you’ll be in fashionable comfort all day with these cute sandals.   The heel cup has zipper closure and a laser-cut geometric pattern of tiny squares.  The pattern of these cut outs remind me of nets which, in this striking blue, gives this sandal a nautical look.  Several online shoe stores have this shoe in several different colors:

The official start of Summer is this weekend and, if you haven’t done so already, it’s a great time to don your favorite sandals and show off that pedicure!   With the warm weather months ahead, Summer sandals are in abundance and there are some amazing styles to choose from… including the ever-so-popular gladiator style, classic t-straps, and embellished thongs in shiny metallics.

Comfort and style should be equally important for your Summer activities and, with the current selection of sandals, you should not have any problems finding both.   Instead of wearing flip-flops, try wearing some strappy flat sandals. Strappy flat sandals are the perfect Summer shoe and will add style to your casual wardrobe this Summer.  They come in a variety of styles and go well with everything, including jeans, capris, dresses, and shorts.

These are my favorite sandals.  The ‘Laurie’ sandal by Gabor features a simple and sophisticated design with soft leather and subtle decorative hardware on the t-strap and buckle.  The Gabor Laurie sandal is available from Piperlime.

When technology and design come together the result can be absolutely stunning.  Laser cut out shoes have been around for awhile but, in recent years, this technology for creating leather cut outs has become more popular among many shoe designers.   This season we’ve seen laser cut outs on every style of shoe, including boots, sandals, pumps and flats. Depending on the style of shoe and the pattern of the cut-out, laser cut outs can give way to an edgy modern look or it can create an ultra feminine look.   If you are interested in seeing the laser cut technology in action, check out this u-tube video of demonstrating the amazing art of Laser Leather Cutting .

Shoes with geometric laser cut-outs patterns provide an edgy, modern look and can transition well into Fall when worn with colored tights.

These gladiator-style Jeffrey Campbell shoes feature dramatic laser cut outs over the entire upper and with a 2-1/2 inch heel, they are very easy to wear all day. The Jeffrey Campbell Attic Black Leather shoes at Jildor Shoes.

Floral and lace cut out patterns provide an ultra feminine look in the shoes below.   They are not as dramatic as the larger and bolder geometric cut outs but the intricate details in these patterns are amazing!

I love the appearance of wooden heel sandals.   There’s something about the natural grain of the wood underfoot, paired with a leather upper in the latest style, that makes wooden-heeled shoes so beautiful.   This season, there’s no shortage of wooden heel sandals to choose from as many designers have put wooden heels in their 2009 Spring and Summer collections.

Personally, I prefer to find shoes that have solid wood instead of stacked wooden heels (thin layers of wood glued together).  You will pay more for solid wood but the appearance of natural wood grain is well worth the beauty.  Also, keep in mind that if the entire sole is made of wood, this makes for a very hard surface and can have an impact on the comfort of the shoe.  Memories of my wooden clogs from the 70′s are coming back!   They looked great back then but they were not very comfortable by the end of the day. However, you’ll find that most designers today will add something to cushion the footbed of wooden-soled shoes.

For me, the more wood the better, so I usually look for platform or wedge sandals.  Here are a few of my favorite shoes with solid wood in the heels and platforms.
