The See by Chloe Wodden Wedge Sandals (shown below) is without a doubt my favorite of this selection. I love the modern, yet earthy design of these shoes and they will easily take you from Summer into Fall.

When clogs made their comeback on the fashion scene this season, there was a lot of resistance.   Images of the Dutch wooden clog (also known as Klompen), the rubber garden clog, and the retro 70s clogs with wood platforms were conjured up before we even began to see some of the attractive contemporary styles that were just on the horizon.  While some of the clogs of today have kept with the tradition of  rustic and wooden appeal, many are styled with other trendy features such as leather-covered platforms, cork platforms, slingback straps, buckles, contrast stitching, and laser cutouts on leather.

We’ve noticed that many wooden platform sandals are sometimes being classified as clogs and it seems the definition of clog has been broadened a bit.  So, where do we draw the line between clog and sandal.  Arbitrarily, I guess!   That said, we’ve decided to feature our picks for wooden platform sandals/clogs in a separate, upcoming post and keep this post limited to the classic, contemporary clog.

As you can see, clogs have come a long way. They are much more polished and put-together for today’s fashion scene. And ‘love em’ or ‘hate em’, they are here to stay through the Fall/Winter season. Clogs are not the only retro 70′s style to come back, platforms made their debut during the 60′s and 70′s and since then they’ve been all the rage in recent years.

Spring is here and all the latest styles have finally made their debut! The footwear styles on offer for Spring 2010 will surely have shoe lovers shopping with glee this season. Some trends, such as gladiators, are back again this year and with some surprising updates to delight.

One of the hottest trends we’ve seen on the runway are Wooden Platforms and Clogs. You can find this trend in every price range and in a wide variety of styles. Jeffrey Campbell is fast becoming one of my favorite shoe designers for keeping his line innovative and exciting. My fav shoe from his latest collection is the Charlie clog.  This clog has classic lines as you would expect from any traditional clog.  The brass tack detailing very much reminds me of my old clogs from the 70s (if any of you are old enough to remember those).  However, there are also some updated design features that make these clogs a show stopper today.   The strap is convertible and can be worn behind the ankle for support as well as a unique style (see picture below). I also like that the strap is substantial and seems to fit in proportion with the overall style of the clog.  The high wooden platform combined with the gorgeous leather make this clog a must-have.   It’s no wonder these clogs are so popular and selling out.   If you’ve been shopping for the recently sold out black clogs, they are back in supply.  You can find the Charlie Clog in good supply at Jildor in Black or Tan leather.
